Philip was one of the younger sons of Bohemund IV – the ruler of Principality of Antioch (now Turkey). A member of the House of Poitiers, he was married to Princess Zabel I, who subsequently, after her father’s death, became the Queen of Cilicia.
Philip was rumored to have an intention of passing the throne to Antioch. This fact was unacceptable for Armenian novelty. As a result, Philip appeared in the middle of a court conspiracy and was killed.
