King Levon I was coming from Rubenid’s dynasty. The 10th Prince of Cilicia, also known as “Lord of the mountains,” Prince Levon II succeeded in establishing a powerful and unified Christian state. He gave valuable support to the Crusades and became the first King in the history of Cilicia. He was coronated as King Levon I. His accession to the throne as a monarch became a start of new era of ecclesiastical cooperation with the West.
