Constantine of Baberon was a powerful Armenian noble from Hetoumid dynasty. King Levon I has appointed Constantine of Baberon to be his daughter’s regent after his death. He played a crucial role in Zabel’s life: For keeping the crown in the hands of Armenian novelty, he arranged dismissal of Zabel’s first husband and forced her into marriage with his son Hetoum. Subsequently, Hetoum was crowned and became the next king of Cilicia and the founder of Hetoumid’s dynasty.
